You need it, rather, you deserve it. You deserve to feel the breeze of a thousand winds brush your skin. You deserve to smell the virgin air atop the peak. You deserve to see the beauty that this place holds. The beauty that I can never be able to put in words or pictures captured. Though I will try, I still insist that you need to take a hike there, rather deserve.
There is nothing as majestic as stinging on top of the world and screaming your lungs out. The sheer freedom and the feel of total victory. Victory over what you may ask. The victory has to be experienced.
The rift valley was formed through a great movement of the earth many years ago, thus said my geography teacher. I visualized the faultiness and saw the lava flow through the veins forming arteries and cones. What I imagined through the geography classes was validated at the peak of Mount Longonot.
Mount Longonot is a dormant mountain with its name derived from the Maasai word oloonong’ot, (steep ridges). It stands some 2,560 meters above ground. It is the lovechild of hard rocks and super hot heat from the crust of the earth. She is a child born of great character and avidly good looks with a crater of about 7 kilometers. The highest peak, Kilele Ngamia, at 2780 meters is surrounded by a halo of clouds.

A group caller Raiser Africa Safari organized the trip and they did a very good job on being punctual and reasonably priced. I will be joining them for many more safaris as the month’s progress.
